Abstract

This article analyzes the principal characteristics of the concepts "žmarginalization"Ÿ, "žsocial exclusion"Ÿ, "žsocial welfare"Ÿ and "žhuman needs"Ÿ which are highly cited in the literature on poverty and social development. It will also expose the main critiques made by different authors regarding the use of these concepts in the social-scientific discussion.
