Determination of Rainwater Alkalinity and Carbonic Species Content Using the Gran Titration Method
Keywords:
rainwater, alkalinity, Gran titrationAbstract
This article revises the procedure to analyze the alkalinity, pH and concentration of carbonic species in rainwater using the Gran titration method. It is possible to define six Gran functions (F1 to F6) however, F1 and F4 calculations are only feasible in the case of rainwater, A rainwater sample, collected at the San Juan Xiutetelco station, Los Humeros, Puebla, was analyzed independently in the laboratories of Los Humeros, Puebla, and Los Azufres, Michoacán. A comparative evaluation of the results supports the validation of the methodology for the analysis of alkalinity, pH and carbonic species content in rainwater:
